Who Is A Candidate?

A woman with excess skin of the breast and drooping of the nipple and areola is an excellent candidate for a mastopexy. Patients should be in good health, non-smoking, and have reasonable expectations. Women should not be currently breastfeeding.

The Operation

Many of our patients seeking a breast lift in Austin, TX, like to know what’s coming. Depending on the amount of breast ptosis correction required, incisions will be made around the areola and may also be present along the front and beneath the breast. After several months, these scars will typically fade and become inconspicuous.

The procedure can be performed as an outpatient, at Precision Plastic Surgery in Austin, TX, or in a nearby hospital setting and generally takes 2-3 hours of operative time. The surgery is performed under IV or general anesthesia.

After Surgery

After surgery, a patient will need to refrain from any strenuous activity that can elevate the heart rate for two weeks. A special bra will be worn for several weeks while your breasts heal. Surgical drains are sometimes required and remain in place for 1-2 weeks.

In order to correct the loss of breast volume, an augmentation may be required instead of or along with a mastopexy. Plan a consultation today with Dr. McFate to determine which procedures are needed to help improve your breast appearance.
