Eyelid Surgery in Austin, TX

Blepharoplasty for correcting defects of the Eyelids

Aging is inevitable, but thankfully there are ways to slow down the process. Surgery for eyelid rejuvenation continues to grow in popularity, and eyelid surgery in Austin is particularly popular. The technical term for the procedure to address the excess skin and/or fat in and around the eyelid is called a blepharoplasty.

As a person ages changes can become apparent in the upper and lower eyelids and visible excess skin and fat. These changes can cause a person to have a tired or unhealthy appearance.

Dr. McFate is fully trained with the most current techniques of blepharoplasty, and he looks forward to meeting with you to discuss if a blepharoplasty is the right procedure for you. Contact us to get started today.

Is Eyelid Surgery Right For Me?

A patient seeking an Austin area eyelid rejuvenation should be in good health, not currently taking blood thinning medications, and have reasonable expectations. It is important to closely examine what is the truly bothering issue. A blepharoplasty specifically corrects excess skin and fat in the upper and/or lower eyelids.

Other problems, such as eyelid ptosis (droopy eyelid) or brow ptosis, can also be causes for changes around the eye, but they are corrected with a different surgical procedure. Dr. McFate will help you evaluate which areas need to be addressed in order to develop a surgical plan so you can meet your goals.

The Operation

Most of Dr. McFate’s eyelid surgery in Austin, TX, is performed at Precision Plastic Surgery. The operation consists of incisions made in the skin of the eyelid or the underside of the eyelid.  Problematic eyelid fat is removed, along with excess skin.

The operation typically takes between 1-2 hours and can be performed in an outpatient setting.  After surgery, a person should plan to avoid any strenuous activity that will elevate the heart rate for 2 weeks.
