If you’re considering having a procedure done, Fall and Winter are the perfect seasons. Because plastic surgery is an elective surgery, you have a chance to use the seasons to your advantage as you rest and recuperate. This is true particularly with body contouring procedures such as: arm lifts, breast lifts, breast augmentations, tummy tucks, and liposuction.
Winter is particularly great for scheduling the major surgeries such as the face lifts, eye surgery, brow lifts and nose jobs. Since during this time we tend to be wearing jackets or hoodies, it is easier to hide the swelling and bruises that may occur. Also because there tends to be less sunlight, this makes it easier to protect your skin during the healing process.
In addition to the cooler weather, the extended holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years give you more time for recovery. Another factor to keep in mind when deciding on when to schedule your procedure, insurance based procedures should be performed in order to meet your deductibles during this time.
If you plan to get your procedure done during this time, be sure to distance yourself from your friends and family they may be sick. If you get sick with a cold or flu before your procedure, it is typically best to reschedule. Being sick during your post op phase your recovery takes longer and cause lead to complications and/or infections.
