It’s not only how big can we make it; it’s about where you want it and from where.
Over time, our bodies undergo changes due to age, weight, and pregnancy. Similarly, a person may have possessed the desire to correct a certain area of their body for some time. Specifically, augmentation of the buttock area continues to grow in popularity. Many people are disappointed with the lack of fullness and contour in the gluteal area. One of the best ways to augment the buttock is by utilizing your own tissues.
One of the most common methods of a buttock augmentation, also referred to as gluteal or butt augmentation, is by using aspirated fat from liposuction of other areas of your body. Once this unwanted fat is removed, it is transferred in a sterile fashion into the buttocks. Our Austin area butt augmentation patients love the idea that they can transfer fat from somewhere they don’t want it to somewhere they do want it, killing two birds with one stone.
Dr. McFate, who practices plastic surgery in Austin, TX, is fully trained in the latest techniques of liposuction, body contouring, and fat grafting to produce optimal results.
Who is a Good Candidate?
Patients are very excited when they get to remove fat from where they don’t want it and have the ability to transfer it into a more needed area. Patients with excess fat in various areas of the abdomen, thighs, hips, and back, but without the desired volume in the buttocks, may be excellent candidates for natural gluteal augmentation.
If the patient has a concern with the position or sagging of the buttock, a different procedure may be appropriate. Generally, patients should be in good overall health, have a stable weight, and possess reasonable expectations.
The procedure can take 3-4 hours depending on the number of liposaspirate treatment areas and can commonly be performed in an outpatient setting using IV anesthesia up to a certain volume of aspirated fat. Precision Plastic Surgery has a facility in which all of our outpatient procedures can be performed, including Austin area butt augmentation. Small incisions are made in the areas planned for liposuction and generally heal very well.
A solution with of intravenous fluid and local anesthetic is infused directly into the tissues of the abdomen and/or thighs. The fluid and fat are then aspirated with special surgical cannulas. Special techniques are utilized to maintain the sterility of the fat and prepare it for grafting into the buttock area.
What to expect after surgery?
Typically, our Austin, TX, butt augmentation patients can return home after surgery the same day. A patient can expect some soreness and bruising for the next 5-7 days. We recommend special garments for areas of liposuction that can reduce these issues and improve the overall result if worn for several weeks after surgery. A person will need to refrain from applying any pressure on the buttocks for a period of 1-2 weeks.
